Temperature, salinity, and current velocity profiles from EM-APEX Float 10275 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2025-06-11

Simultaneous vertical profiles of temperature, salinity, and velocity vector from an Electromagnetic Autonomous Profiler Explorer (EM-APEX) float. Data were acquired over a frontal cyclone on the northern edge of the Loop Current.

Data Parameters and Units Depth [m], temperature [degree C], salinity [PSU], zonal velocity component [m/s], and meridional velocity component [m/s].
Methods The Teledyne Webb Research APEX-EM electromagnetic profiling float was deployed in the Yucatan Channel to get temperature and salinity profiles.
Purpose Collect data to better characterize the hydrodynamics of the eastern Loop Current frontal cyclone at the Yucatan Channel in support of the objectives of the NAS-funded Understanding of the Gulf Ocean System (UGOS) project.
