NOAA Hurricane Forecast Analysis System (HAFS)

The Hurricane Forecast Analysis System (HAFS) is NOAA’s next-generation multi-scale numerical model designed to provide reliable and skillful operational forecasts for hurricanes. It includes a data assimilation package, ocean coupling, and a high-resolution moving nest for accurate track and intensity predictions, storm size, genesis, storm surge, rainfall, and tornadoes. The system is integrated into the Unified Forecasting System (UFS), which spans local to global domains and predictive time scales.
